Bird brooch and disc brooch in bronze

These two brooches where found very close together and probably are contemporary.The one on the left is a bird brooch shaped as a bird/ raven.(you can see the bird in a bird perspective:-). It lacks its neck and head.The find on the right is a disc brooch.Both are found by Arne Schau in Brunlanes. Handed in to the Museum of Archaeology in Oslo.

Found by Arne Schau in Boekeskogen.On the way of getting handed in to the Museum of Haugar in Horten, but where stolen before it came that far.

Oval brooch

This little oval brooch is one of a pair, which has been carried by a woman at the end of the germanic ironage- Eraly vikingtime. Found at Halste on Lolland, Denmark by Thor Holmboe. Is to be handed in to the local museum.

Disc brooch with gold inlaying.

Disc brooch with gold inlaying found near Little Utterslev on Lolland, Denmark in 2005 by Thor Holmboe. Interpretation: If you look close you can detect 3 patterns. Tors-hammer s which face eachother and near the edges: 3x2 ravens.Ravens might symbolize the ravens of Odin, since the heads face the opposite directions.Symbolic :The first raven looked back in time,the other one in the future.Handed over to the LLF museum in Denmark.

Bird brooch in silver

This little birdlike brooch ( 2,8 cm ) in pure silver, is found on Lolland by Thor Holmboe and has been used at the end of the viking era- early medievaltimes (nordic).Is to be handed in to the local museum.

Spindle Whorl

Spindle Whorl of lead with decor from the viking Era. The Spindle Whorl is the most common tool for producing textiles in the Iron- and Middleages.Found by Aage Olsen in Raade and handed in to the Museum of Archaeology in Oslo.
