Pictures from the excavation on Jaeren where John and Morten helped out the Mueseum of archaeology in Stavanger with detector aid.

The finding of an equal armed brooch made by the archaeologists triggered the call to us for further assistance. This very preserved brooch is from Viking time/ Merovingian.An is exeptionall large.It has the face of a bear in both ends.

We did locate nails in iron from a viking boat burial.

Then it was Mortens turn for some luck.. Se picture belove..

U can feel the tension.. Morten has got a goodie-signal... The soil was gentle removed on the spot Morten had pointed out,and the other half of the pair of ovalshaped brooch was recovered!.

Illustration on the right: Oval shaped brooches are typically woman jewellery from Merovingian/Viking Era.These brooches where carried always in pairs, often connected with a pearl ribbon.

On the left: John and Morten in the 7th heaven..

The right picture shows a guilded pearl found in the solding prosess.

On the picture on the right; Solding is nesessary to locate very small objects.

On the picture on the left: 14 pearls made of glas. Pay attention to the lovely guilded one! these pearls have connected the oval brooches.

Picture on the right shows other finds located thru solding. Pay attention to the tooth seen down at the right corner.
