Rygene well represented in new exhibition at AmS
Spor i jord- new finds 2006/07 is the name of the new exhibition at the Museum of Archaeology in Stavanger this winter. The exhibition shows the results from the last years archaeolgical surveils, and also artefacts which have been handed in to the museum by the public.
Metaldetector finds handed in to the museum in 2006/07 by some of the members of Rygene Detecting Club living near Stavanger where also on display. Some of the finds made of Trond Kolstoe, Morten Eek and John Kvanli was : a medieval guardian club, three rare disc fibulas in bronze from the Vendel era, whindel whorl in lead, melted gold, a seal ring and a lovely priest ring from the 14th-15th century picturing Jesus on the cross flanked by the Virgin Mary and the apostel John.
On display was also the set of tourtouse brooches from the Viking age which Morten Eek and John Kvanli located for the museum on an assignment in Froeyland in january-07.
